Complaint Description:
My two children ages 11 and 16 would love to act so we answered an ad online and attended an interview, where we filled out a questionnaire and spoke with an "agent" who said they have a large amount of work availableWe simply must pay an enrolment fee of $100 + GST and then sign up on a website called Actors Den for $4.95/month that will promote each child and list upcoming work available for them to apply for. We signed up January 19 2013 and paid the fee and received no receipt whatsoever (were told it would be mailed) . Since that date we have found no job listings available for either child. We called to inquire as to why there was no work and were told our children need to now sign up for a Audition Course which costs $500 each and they would then be eligible for work. We advised the agent we spoke with that we wanted to think it over, we have been called twice a day for weeks since by agents from this company pressuring us to enrol and to give them our credit card number. We then asked if they could guarantee our girls would have more work opportunities available and they then told us that the girls would then have to have professional portraits done at a sitting fee of $300 and then they would have more work opportunities.
When the agent called today I asked why there was no work available and also why there are so many similar complaints listed against them by other people. He became very odd ranting about some 6 angry men in Ontario (???). I told him I want a refund of the $210 I had paid for my two children and he responded saying he didn't know what to do and he couldn't resolve the matter.
