I was contacted by this firm (unsolicited - they called me) after I purchased a real estate investing mentoring course after attending a "free" event at a local hotel. The representative from this firm told me that I should have my LLC "set up properly" (by them) to avoid any problems with the IRS and taxes. Their charge for this "service" was (as I recall) $5,999.00. After this, I was then contacted within a day or two (again referring to avoiding problems with the IRS) to "sign up for" (be sold) their Essential Bookkeeping and Business Credit "service" for another $6,000.00+ after which I was billed and additional $99.00 every three months even though I had no business activity for them to process or administer. Then I received another call to "set up an appointment" which turned out to be yet another sales call to try and sell me on another "service" to develop a business logo/icon for another $899.00 for which I then told them "No Thanks". I also requested that if these "appointments" were to constantly try to sell me on more "services", that I would not be interested and to please stop. They did (stop calling)and I haven't heard much from them since then.

I got involved with this group in November, 2010 (against my better judgement - in hindsight). Others who attended and purchased the same mentoring course told me that they too were contacted by this organization. I have told them about my own experience and advised them against making any purchases with this firm because of what it would ultimately end up costing them. I now realize that it doesn't cost anywhere near the $5999.00 that this group charged to set up an LLC (the fact that I was notified - by email - that my documents were all complete and being sent to me within two hours of "the sale" should have raised a red flag. But I was just excited to be "on my way" to starting my own home-based business that I just (foolishly) "threw all caution to the wind").

If an entrepreneur wants to start their own business, he or she can contact the IRS directly and request an Employer Identification Number (EIN - there may or may not be any fee involved). Once they have this EIN, they can go online online with their state's department of state website under busnesses and register an LLC directly by filling out the exact same (online Adobe Acrobat) document forms, print them out (and make copies before signing any of them), sign and date them and send them to the appropriate office with the state'e filing fee (as I recall, it was about $125.00 for my state - which I had to pay in addition to all of the money that I was charged).

As for the bookkeeping. I suggest that one would be best advised to find a local accountant or business development professional to handle and assist with this. The local professionals who provide these services charge a fraction of what this group charged (i.e. between one-third and one-half) and they are easier to contact and meet with when necessary. I should have known better even though I found myself in "new and uncharted waters". Live and learn. I am still working on developing my business. I'm finding it to be far more challenging than what I was led to believe. I bear most of the responsibility for my situation for not being as savvy and cautious as I should have been.

I just recently had to file a Chapter 13 to get my creditors to stop calling me at work and so that I can work out a repayment plan to pay what I owe and "get back on my feet" (financially speaking) so that I can get on with my life. This is not going to be pleasant. My whole reason for writing this is to warn others... BUYER(S) BEWARE!!!
