On Jan.10, 2012, we attended a presentation at Mango's Restaurant in downtown PV. The presentation included a tour of a lovely residence at the Grand Venetian. Of course, we fell in love with the property. Back at the restaurant we agreed to the sale of some of our timeshare properties in return for purchasing a contract of ownership at the Grand Venetian. Until such time as the timeshares were sold, we had to pay for the contract up front and would be reimbursed within the few short months it would take to make the sales transactions. We placed charges of approximately $13,000 each on two separate credit cards. We were promised several hundred dollars as a gift for attending the presentation. Once the "deal" was signed, we were offered a gift certificate for 2 airfares and 3 weeks to stay at the Grand Venetian in place of our gift. We decided to take this gift certificate instead because it seemed to be a better value. Everything seemed delightful.

Upon our return to our timeshare, a friend suggested we do some internet research about our visit to the presentation. We found very disturbing complaints about World Luxury Destinations. This was unsettling! The next morning we returned to the restaurant and informed them that we wanted to cancel the contract. They, of course, tried to talk us out of it, but we were firm. We eventually were given paperwork that verified cancellation and were told our credit cards would be credit back withing 30 days. We spoke to their attorney, Oscar Casillas. We also contacted our credit card companies and put a hold on the charges. A formal dispute was entered for the charges. Needless to say, it took months to get the funds credited back. We were fortunate to have been successful in eventually doing this, but it was full of headaches. In reading other people's miseries with these individuals, we are thankful to have parted company with these people. We are now trying to use our gift certificate of airfare and weeks at the Grand Venetian. The phone number on the certificate has not been answered, but we have left messages. I value the gift certificate at $4000 for the airfare and 3 weeks in a luxury condo. It will be a surprise if it comes to be. It is really unbelievable that the Mexican government lets this type of activity thrive. It does bring money into the country, but not in a legitimate way. It is a lovely country and many people are wonderful. The good people of Mexico do not deserve to be represented by such scammers.
