While I was on line I received a call from an Indian gentleman very difficult to understand and would not answer my questions as to how he accessed my phone number and how he knew I had a computer problem, that I didn't know I had. He said their company Comantra was associated with Microsoft and had been advised that Microsoft that my computer had been corrupted by a file I down loaded. It's strange this happened within 30 minutes of installing a programme called ParetoLogic, he kept me talking on the line for over half an hour instructing me to check various sections for warning an errors and making very grim comments when I found them. He then said his company would send me a form to complete to sign up for annual service & maintenance with hsi company as Norton 360 was not sufficent protection due to my Microsoft protection had now been activated when I got this new computer four months ago. I was doubtful but he kept insisting they had been contacted by Microsoft, and the computer had been a bit slower than usual so I thought it was all legit. After payment was sent he stayed on the phone until I was contacted remotely then ended the call. I did watch for several minutes and I could see that things were happening. I had told the original caller that I had to go out about 19.00 and he was delaying me, just as I was about to leave @ 19.10 someone else called back to tell me that they sorted out all the problems and would I check all was OK and email them. I said I didn't have time all I could do was confirm that everything seemed to be OK. When I signed on this morning everything seemed OK although they had set up IGoogle as home page, but all seemed to be working OK. But since then each time I've logged on today there has been no homepage, I have contacted Comantra but strangely enough had had no response.
