When signing up for personal training, I was told: 1. I could cancel or freeze my account at any time (no mention of fees or penalties) and 2. I could change the number of sessions I wanted per month at any time. I was not told: 1. there is a fee for freezing the account and a limit to the amount of times you can freeze your account, 2. in order to cancel, I would have to pay 50% of the remaining months on my "contract", 3. that I had a 12 month contract, 4. that if I cancelled my regular membership, the training account would still be charged, 4. that I was signing a "contract". When cancelling my old membership in order to get a yearly membership, I was not told that my personal training account would not also be cancelled When I first put my account on hold, I was charged $15 for each month I froze the account. Although I had not been informed of this, I didn't want to put up a fight and just moved on. Once my old membership had been cancelled, I wanted to check to ensure that my training account was also cancelled and if not, freeze it again as I could not afford it at the moment. My account simply said "membership cancelled" and did not allow me to do anything. Suddenly, I was charged $240. I immediately called. The manager of the club refused to help me, so I tried corporate. I was told I would receive a refund. Today, I still have not been refunded and the corporate office has "no record" of my call to corporate - only of my call with the manager of the local club.
Additionally, prior to switching to the yearly membership, I had 'pre-paid' $40 online because I was tired of the $9.95 charges every week. What happened to that money? Don't ask me! It never got used for my membership fees and was never refunded.
