On June 26th I signed a contract with Roy Taber, Family Hearing Aid Center, Hillsboro, Or (NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH FAMILY HEARING AID CENTER, TROUTDALE, OR.) On June 27th I cancelled the order. I cancelled by phone and followed with a registered letter. (it was returned later "Moved. left no address) He insisted the cancellation couldn't be done. I contacted the Senior Services, Mult Co and they helped to get the man to sign a promisary note that the $1,000.00 would be refunded to me in 10 working days. It wasn't. Mult Co got Legal Services involved. They sent two letters - both returned "Moved, left no address".
Sure I want my money but just as much I want to warn all elderly people to be on guard - and the non-elderly too.

- Roy Taber's collecting complaints again. There was a report on KATU today, here is an online link: http://www.katu.com/news/local/Fined-two-years-ago-hearing-aid-salesman-faces-more-complaints-180064321.html. He fleeced my grandmother as well, so I'm encouraging her to report it. I hope he is put out of business completely, and soon!

I guess I was one of the lucky ones: I purchased hearing aids from him in 2008, but they had persistant problems and I began to wonder if they were old units that had been repackaged.
In April or so of this year I called him and told him I was going to purchase another unit; he said he would contact me but he just vanished.
I guess I was one of the more fortunate customers. When I went to another hearing aid clinic and told my story, the clinician there was very skeptical that the units I bought from Taber were new. He told me these things, properly cared for, are very durable.
I was lucky, I guess, Mr Taber managed to vanish ( re-appearing in Washington state not long ago) before I spent any more money.
