READ the Whole Story! Then You Decide!! On Friday, June 8, 2012 I went to the Monroe & Talmadge, Stanton Optical, Store 016 5071 Monroe st, Toledo, Ohio 4194754077. I sat with a very nice young lady. I wanted a quote on the least expensive pair of tinted glasses (sunglasses for me) to replace the pair that I had just broken the nose piece and that had a few scratches. I only wear them at work, thus the damage and why I wanted Cheap. I went there because I had just recently purchased two pair of prescription glasses from them and although you do wait an uncommonly long time to get waited on I thought that they were fair and the glasses were fine. She came back with $100 + tax. Basic frame, plastic one vision lense with tinting. Great. let's do it. She took my card, rang it up and came back to me. Price on the receipt...$132.58???? Um, why the price change. Well, I mistakenly gave 60% off instead of 30%. Hmmm, that does'nt quite add up but the price still was'nt to bad so ok. I sign the receipt and how quickly can I have them done? She tells me that they cannot have them finished until Tuesday, June 12, 2012 sometime later in the day. The following morning I stop into Walmart that everyone knows has an Optical Dept. Just curious I tell my story, ask a few questions. No pricing. Lady says let me see the sunglasses. She fixed them....For Free!!! No questions asked...just fixed them. Hmm, now I don't need a new pair. I call Stanton, talk to the young lady that helped me and request to check the order. Not done yet. Due Tuesday. I ask to stop the order (since they have'nt been made yet) and refund the money. She say's that she can't but her manager can but she is busy. I give my number for her to call. That was 9:45am. No call yet by 11:30am so I'm thinking better stop in. I ask for the General Manager, she says she will get with me asap. 25 minutes later she says that she is sorry but the young lady was mistaken. She (the GM) does'nt have the authority to refund the money, only corporate doe's and by the way I can have your glasses done within the hour. Seriously? I made a call to corp at the store. Get an answering machine. Leave msg. Call again Monday, June 11th 8:00am. Lft msg. Every half hour since. Still the machine. Message everytime. Obviously there going shuv the glasses up my rear end and Never call me back. This morning, 10:30am, June 11, 2012, just for giggles I stop in at the WalMart store Optical Center to get a quote. She used my glasses to get my prescription because Stanton claimed the computer was down and they could'nt get mine. Quote: $79 + tax, One vision, Polarized, Scratch Resistant Coating. The same frames from the same named company as I picked out at Stanton. I will be picking up my new Glasses Friday. RECAP: Ordered sun glasses. Can't pick up for 4 days. Cancel order less than 24hrs later. Can pick up in an hour? Still not produced but no refund. Refund must come from Corparate. 7 phone calls over 3 days. Still no reply! Customer Service "0". Stanton Optical just LOST a very good customer. I used to go to Glasses World down the street. I average at least one new pair per year at an average of $150 per. Sometimes more. I'm tough on glasses and maybe a bit reckless. My boy's appointment was Wednesday. Not anymore. I paid over $200 for my glasses really. But worth every dime to figure out that Stanton Optical is in no way for the Customer and you will not find that out until after you make a purchase.

  • Interesting. My husband had problem with same store. Glasses developed foggy area in one corner. They grilled him on what he used to clean them with and told him if he didn't use their cleaner the warrenty would be invalid. Then they charged him a 20% copay for the replacement lenses even though they never mentioned anything about any copay when glasses were purchased. Not only that but their service after the sale is truly atrocious. Would never recommend this place!
