My fiance and I received a call from, "THE GOVERNMENT GRANT DEPT". I felt in heart that this phone call was a scam from the beginning, but my fiance felt like it could be the real thing. We heard this gentleman tell us that we have been approved for this grant for not having declared bankruptcy, being a felon, and not falling behind on bills. I then received a "GRANT ID NUMBER EM505", plus a phone number to verify his story, "202-640-0883". A lady named "Vanessa" proceeded to tell me that I had to send the amount of $257.00 over to India because it was the cheapest for money sending purposes. So I sent it, (against my better judgment). Then she express to me that I had to send another $450.00 for tax purposes. So I tell her send me $450.00 and ill then send it back to you. She said she would, but the funds is currently held in my name, so she can't send it to me. I then ask her to send it to my fiance, no funds are held in his name, she then said, "it don't work like that." I exclaimed I don't have another $450.00 to just send to you. She expressed, "call back when you do and I tell you how to send it". After a whole bunch of I-told-you-so's, on the way home from western union, we did some research and stumbled upon all theses complaints. I wish we had done this earlier, and glad that it was only $257. I don't understand how they can continue to do this to people, when their is numbers and people still answering them! Word for the wise, be careful and don't believe every phone call from now on.
