I recieved a letter in the mail with a canadian post script and the return address as:

Inside the envelope the address is

87 E. 42ND STREET, SUITE 301, NEW YORK, MY 10017

The letter read:

This is to inform you that you are hired to participate in their paid "Mystery Shoppers program, we became aware of your interest from the previous online survey you enter through our affiliate Consumer Survey Specialists were you indicated your interests for additional income on a part time bases. As one of the few Research Personnel selected under this unique program, you will be working as a Consumer Service Evaluator of some selected retail outlets, restaurants and various other commercial establishments in your area making predetermined purchases and evaluating the customer service level of the stores and service providers. CONGRATULATIONS.
Your salary is $350.00 for these first two assignments. You will be paid different salary every week per different job, based on the task involved subject to upward review plus additional bonuses depending on how fast you can complete your assignment to enable us assign the next job since we have many customers on the awaiting list. However, there is no obligation as to how long you keep this job you are allowed to quit whenever you like.
These assignments has been put together to be completed in two different locations on a weekly basis depending on your seriousness and ability to follow our instructions to the letter. Please call your account Manager, Andrew Soto at 1-289-892-3257 between 8:30am to 9:00pm. Monday-Saturday for further urgent directives.
First survey assignment, you will be evaluating Wal-Mart Money Gram or any other Money Gram location in your area as a way of rating their competence and good customer relations by doing a fund trnsfer to our Area Manager, Please follow these steps:

1. Deposit payroll check into your checking or saving account, money will be available within 12 to 24 hours, then withdraw the cash, go to the Money Gram fill out the Red Color Money Transfer Form, for $895 plus $80 send fees.
2. Receiver name: TIM PAGE City: ATLANTA, State: GA. .
3. On the Message line: ***Please enter the Test Question as? WEEK. And the Answer is: END . **
4. *******Inform the Money Gram agent to pay the receiver using the test Question and Answer only. No ID required.*****
5. Upon completion of this transaction, Please call 1-289-892-3257 immediately with your receipt to confirm the transaction.
6. Ensure you complete the evaluation form at home with your honest opinion and fax it to 1-812-961-0126 or email it to [email protected]

Second survey assignment, take out your salary and then use the balance of $62.60 for shopping (Please ensure you get the receipt/s) at one of the retail stores listed; WAL-MART, COSTCO, BESTBUY, HOME DEPOT. etc. Items you buy are yours to keep as bonus. We want to know if their employees are helpful to customers.
Please note that it is mandatory that you call-in to report each completed job assignment to your account manager and fax your evaluation and all receipts for verifications purposes. Job done but not reported will be considered "NOT DONE" and you will not be sent any other job assignment until further notice. Call our Account Manager to activate the enclosed payroll checks before depositing in your bank account. Thank you and we appreciate your confidentiality and integrity as our "Secret Shopper" representative.

This is what the letter says almost exactly, all misspellings and incorrect punctuation were found in this letter and so I typed them out here. I definitely can spell quite a bit better than whoever made up this letter. I called the number for my so-called "account manager", and when I asked if it was Andrew Soto he said "Sure", so I asked if I had the right number and he said "Yeah, lemme put you on hold"; and so I sat there for the next three minutes with the phone beeping at me, so I hung up. I called back in case I'd had the wrong number and the same man answered. I said "Hi, I received a letter in the mail about being a mystery shopper?", to which he replied: "Yeah, hold on", and put me on hold again! I hung up and didn't call back. He didn't sound like he could be any sort of professional, LET ALONE some form of manager. I waited two days (I received the letter on June 1st) and then googled the name of the company today, finding this site and all the other complaints, so I thought I should update everyone. By the way, I live in Pennsylvania. I'm very glad I decided against the truly moronic idea of trying to cash this check. It just goes to show that you should ALWAYS research, because you learn something new every day!
