At 1:34 am, My wife received this email on her iPhone.
"Your entry last month has WON! Goto:
http://www.bestbuy.com.gpck.biz/?claimid=312
and enter the winning code "6655" to claim your FREE $1000.00 Bestbuy Giftcard!"
I then looked online to determine if there were any issues with this item & checked to run the request. Who wouldn't be interested in a free $1000.00 Giftcard?
But I also found this website. So I'm filing my complaint based on receiving the enclosed email I guess from BestBuy on the off-chance these other 79 complaints are valid. I assume if I tried to pursue this email to collect the giftcard from Bestbuy, I'd also end up a victim of false advertising and possibly at some financial loss, though I don't see how I'd loose money if this false ad is actually from Bestbuy?
Either way, if Bestbuy sent this out, it's an ethical problem as it says we've WON the card. That would indicate that we just need to follow the prompts to acquire the card. No purchase or investment would be necessary. I believe that to be illegal!!
Hence my complaint.
