My daughter had just enough money in her checking account to cover a check she had written to pay her local income tax for 2011. She logged into her checking account online to see if that check had been cashed yet, when she found that this charge for $7.65 had been made to her account AND she was charged a $25 overdraft fee. She knew she had not used her debit card for anything because she knew she didn't have any money available for use in the account. The information listed for the description of the transaction was "FIRSTCARPLAZA.IN 727-478-6005 FL". She called customer service for our bank and the lady told her to call that phone number, because it "looks like it may be one of your transactions." She proceeded to call that number and got a recording made by a lady with a foreign accent simply stating to call back during business hours (without even saying what exactly their business hours are). We then Googled "FirstCarPlaza.in" and came across all of these complaints about the same company doing the same thing to others. My daughter then called the bank back and explained what she had found. They have now frozen her debit card, so she has to get a new one. She also has to go into the bank and fill out paperwork to dispute the charge, then presumably they will refund her for the debit and the resulting overdraft charge.
